Robin Liddell's hopes of winning his third Grand-AM GT race in succession ended in disappointment at Laguna Seca.

Despite starting sixth on the GT grid, the Newbury driver finished in 17th in the Stevenson Motorsport Pontiac.

The car received extensive damage after co-driver Andrew David was hit by another an hour into the 250-mile race.

Liddell said: "The handling was tricky after the shunt, but we brought it home to earn some valuable points in the championship."

Liddell now heads to Lime Rock in Conneticut for round six of the series on Monday 26 May.

He added: "I've raced at Lime Rock regularly since 2005 and enjoy the track.

"It's important in terms of the championship that Andrew and I quickly bounce back after this disappointment."
