The 14-year-old who drives for Birel Motorsport went into the event aiming for a repeat victory, after claiming the KF3 class title a year ago.

Harvey was leading the final race at the half-way stage when he encountered the trouble to his engine.

"I'm really disappointed to end the weekend in this way," Harvey told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"I really wanted to win the Margutti Trophy, it's a prestigious title to win and I came out to the event with exactly that aim," he added.

Harvey is back in action this weekend in the opening round of the main European Championship, the winning series of Karting at La Conca in Southern Italy.
