Felipe Massa takes advantage of being on pole to lead into turn one - holding off Ferrari team-mate Michael Schumacher

Drivers championship leader Fernando Alonso retains his third place, but Giancarlo Fisichella starts to lose control

The Italian spins his Renault to send the rest of the field into chaos as debris from his nose cone litters the track

The race begins to take shape with the Ferraris pulling away from Alonso with Schumacher setting the fastest lap time

However, Alonso passes Schumacher in the pits when the leading trio stop to refuel with the safety car out

Out in front, Massa opens up a seven second lead over Alonso, but when the duo pit, Schumacher takes the lead

Schumacher goes in for a splash and dash, but comes out behind Alonso and faces a tense battle for second place

Massa eases off on the final lap in case Schumacher passes Alonso, but it is too late and the Brazilian coasts to victory

Alonso keeps Schumacher at bay to take second place and extend his drivers championship lead to 12 points

But the day belongs to Massa who deservedly clinches his first victory after an enthralling Turkish Grand Prix
