It was a clean sweep for the Andretti Green team |
English driver Dan Wheldon won the first-ever Indy Racing League road race in St Petersburg, Florida, as Andretti Green claimed the first four places. The 26-year-old made his move on the final restart on lap 92 of the 100-lap race and won by 1.45 seconds.
He was followed home by team-mates Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti and Bryan Herta, who had started on pole.
It was Wheldon's second win in three starts this season and the fifth of his IRL career.
Darren Manning was the third Briton home - after Wheldon and Franchitti - coming ninth in his Toyota.
