Scheckter surges to Texas IRL win |  Scheckter's last win was in Michigan three years ago |
South Africa's Tomas Scheckter won the Indy Racing League Bombardier Learjet 500 at Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday. Starting on pole for the third time in six races in his Dallara/Chevrolet, Scheckter led for 119 of the 200 laps to claim his first win since 2002. He held off the Dallara/Toyota of Sam Hornish by 0.534 seconds, the 10th-closest finish in IRL history. England's Dan Wheldon, the Indy 500 winner seeking his fourth straight victory, could only manage sixth.
