Former F1 driver McNish had a bad crash at Le Mans last month |
Allan McNish made a successful return to action as he teamed up with Pierre Kaffer to win round two of the Le Mans Endurance Series at the Nurburgring. The Scottish driver had not raced since a high-speed accident forced him out of the Le Mans 24 Hours last month.
He and Kaffer finished one lap clear of Audi UK team-mates Johnny Herbert and Jamie Davies, with Nicolas Minassian and Jamie Campbell-Walter's DBA third.
The four Audi UK drivers are now tied for the lead in the LMES series.
"We all worked very hard for this," said McNish. "After what happened at Le Mans it was important for us to have a good result."
