Jimmie Johnson celebrates after his win
Johnson won his second race in a week at the Lowes Motor Speedway
A week after winning $1m in the all-star The Winston race, Jimmie Johnson was back in the winner's circle at the latest round of the Nascar Winston Cup at the Lowes Motor Speedway in North Carolina on Sunday.

The Chevrolet driver, who started on pole, benefited from the decision to reduce the race from 400 to 276 laps after steady rain fell all day.

The Nascar series does not race in the rain on oval tracks and, even though it was dry at the time of the decision, more rain was forecast.

Matt Kenseth, who still leads the overall standings after his second place, thought the spectators were cheated of a complete race.

"I'm certainly not happy calling the race off so late at night," he said.

"It's the biggest race of the year and it's not even raining, so I hope the rain hits here pretty hard, pretty soon so all the fans will feel like they're not cheated."

Bobby Labonte finished third, but Dale Earnhardt Jr - second in the series standings - could only manage 41st place after spinning on lap 223 and suffering brake problems later in the race.
