Prentice finished 340 points off top spot with a haul of 5324 points |
Freyja Prentice led the British charge in the women's Modern Pentathlon World Junior Championships but finished outside the medals in 12th place. Prentice, who has been selected in Britain's World Championship squad, had her hopes of a podium finish hurt by a difficult horse in the equestrian ride. She rose from 25th place with a third-fastest time in the combined run/shoot. Charlotte Grandfield had been in contention but dropped from second to 16th spot in the final run/shoot event. Katy Burke, who struggled through the day with sickness, came 20th with Lydia Rosling in 24th. Egypt's Aya Mdany won individual gold in Chinese Taipei, with Russia's Svetlana Lebedeva second and Margaux Isaksen of the United States third. The British team of Burke, Prentice and Grandfield finished fifth in the team event.
