Burton missed out on a medal at the Beijing Olympics

For the first time in recent history, Great Britain have named a full team of 14 for a judo World Championships, in Rotterdam from 26-30 August.

As they bid to develop a full team for 2012, the squad includes five of the seven who competed in Beijing.

Euan Burton and Peter Cousins, who won medals at the last World Championships in 2007, are included.

Sarah Clark competes at -57kg, the lighter category in which she won European Championship silver in April.

Head coach Patrick Roux, who took over after Beijing, said: "We have to wait to see the draw and as we know judo can prove to be unpredictable.

"However, we have some players who are capable of reaching the final block of fights in Rotterdam and then the possibility to challenge for medals."

Burton, who won bronze in 2007, competes in the -81kg category with Cousins, who was a silver medallist last time, in the -100kg category.

Veteran Karina Bryant, who has won four World Championships medals, has recovered from injury to take part in the +78kg event.

Winston Gordon is the fifth Beijing Olympian named by Roux.

Alex Farbon, Matt Clempner, Kimberley Renicks and the youngest member of the team, Ashley McKenzie, will all be making their World Championships debut.
