Serena: I'm good, not cocky
Serena Williams
Williams showed no mercy on her opponent
Third round: S Williams (US) bt E Gagliardi (Switz) 6-1 6-2

Serena Williams demolished undseeded Swiss opponent Emmanuelle Gagliardi - then hit out at the double standards imposed on men and women who dominate their chosen sport.

The fifth seed said whereas powerful male sportstars were praised, their female counterparts were criticised for arrogance.

"I don't see where Venus and I lack humility.

"With the way we've been doing with all our wins, I don't know - I mean Tiger Woods wins a lot and I don't think they call him cocky."

"I am a very friendly person, a nice person on and off the court.

"When people beat me I tell them, 'Good match and good luck'.

"There's no need to be bitter. In tennis there's always a next week."

Williams, beaten by big sister Venus in the semi-finals here last year, has lost just eight games in the first three rounds of this year's championships.

The 96th-ranked Gagliardi broke Williams in the first set when Serena gave away every point with unforced errors.

But the 19-year-old, a quarter-finalist at the Australian and French Opens this year, soon powered away wrapping up victory in 50 minutes.

The American's controversial father Richard had walked out part way through her 6-4 6-0, second-round win over German Barbara Rittner apparently dissatisfied with his daughter's performance.

But he kept his seat on court two this time.

In Monday's fourth round, Williams will play Bulgarian 12th seed Magdelena Maleeva, who beat American Amy Frazier 6-3 6-2.

Answer to the above question: Bill Clinton, because he's a democrat.
