Greg set for Goran mind battle
Goran Ivanisevic
Which Goran will Greg have to face?
By BBC Sport Online's Steve Cresswell at Wimbledon

When Greg Rusedski and Goran Ivanisevic meet on Monday, spectators could be forgiven for believing they are watching the same player at both ends.

But don't expect the rallies to last too long on Monday as two of the biggest-servers in the game do battle.

Left-handed serves are not the only similarity between the players.

Both are coming back into form after miserable spells that saw former world number two Ivanisevic plummet to 96 in the rankings and Rusedski, once as high as four, drop to 69.

I've played him (Ivanisevic) eight or nine times and lost every time
  Greg Rusedski
But where there may be a vast difference between the players could be in their mental approach.

While Rusedski appears to be a fairly settled character, he could find himself up against more than one Ivanisevic on Monday.

The three-time Wimbledon runner-up revealed the conversation going on between the inner and outer Goran as he wasted a number of match points before overcoming Andy Roddick on Friday.

"They were both nervous. I said, "Guys, guys..." One has to be under control, but they were both going. One was rushing, the other was rushing even more.

"Then the third one came and said, "Guys, relax. It's a lovely court, relax. Just calm down."

"The third one had to come, I had to call him. He's the emergency one. Emergency, 911 call, and he came on deuce. Calm down, two aces, thank you."

Confused? So who is the third Goran?

"That's the one who just comes when it's an emergency situation. He is nowhere, he is like behind the scenes... the brain man. He's controlling."

I can say I beat him (Ivanisevic) in an exhibition - that felt good
  Greg Rusedski
Right, glad we got that issue cleared up. So Rusedski will have to overcome all three Gorans to win on Monday.

But the Briton is sure to be a man on a mission as he bids to beat the Croat for the first time.

"I've played him eight or nine times and lost every time," admits Greg. "I think I've had maybe a total of 15 match points but never gotten over the hurdle."

Rusedski did enjoy something of a moral victory when the pair last met in an exhibition match at Surbiton prior to Queen's.

"In the exhibition, we split sets. I won a last-set tie-breaker. It was a great feeling. I can say I beat him in an exhibition. That felt good."

Rusedski aims to get help from fellow Brit Barry Cowan or Wayne Arthurs over the weekend to gain a rhythm of playing against a fellow left-hander.
