![]() | Capriati sends out title warning ![]() Capriati's form was ominous for her title rivals Jennifer Capriati sent out a title warning to her rivals at Wimbledon by overwhelming Sandrine Testud in the fourth round. Capriati produced her best form of the tournament so far and destroyed her French opponent with the power and accuracy of her ground strokes. Her serving was also a huge weapon as Testud barely got a look in. "I don't think there's much to be unhappy about today," said Capriati. "I think I did everything well. So far this is the best I've played in the tournament."
Testud twice took Capriati to deuce on the American's serve, but never looked like forcing a break as the champion of the French and Australian Opens was always dominant. Capriati broke Testud for a second time in the sixth game and served out to take the set 6-1. The second set went in almost identical fashion, with Capriati breaking in Testud's first service game, and following it up with a second break later in the set. Capriati took the set 6-2 and now faces Serena Williams in the last eight. "I think she's probably going to be pretty eager, especially against me since I just beat her twice," admits Capriati. "She probably wants to get revenge. "So it's just important for me to concentrate on my own game and just think about what I'm doing." |
