Hooper seeks renewed effort

West Indies captain Carl Hooper has urged his players to keep their heads up following back-to-back defeats by South Africa in Grenada at the weekend.

They now trail 3-1 in the one-day series, leaving the tourists one victory away from completing a Test and one-day series double.

"We've now put ourselves in a position where we need to win three games to win the one-day series, which is a big ask.

"We've got to stay positive and keep preparing ourselves well and hopefully turn things around," said Hooper.

He has worked hard to revive the team's fortunes since taking over as skipper from Jimmy Adams, but batting frailties remain.

West Indies were dismissed for 155 in Saturday's game, which they lost by 132 runs, and could only muster 200 all out 24 hours later.

The fifth match of the best-of-seven series takes place in Barbados on Wednesday.

The South Africans will be hopeful of wrapping things up after having the better of the third Test at the same ground earlier in the tour.

On that occasion, they reduced West Indies to 88 for seven in their second innings and only time-wasting tactics by the home side enabled them to hang on for a draw.

Skipper Shaun Pollock has promised no let-up from his players, even though they are feeling the effects of a hard tour.

"Two wins back to back can have a big impact on the series. We're really proud of ourselves and the way we've played to have won both, and the two wins stand us in good stead."

He added: "Three games to go. We're looking forward to them and would like to end the tour on a good note."
