West Indies will resume on 101 for four, 222 short of their victory target, on the final day. Six wickets for South Africa will give them a 2-0 lead in the series with one Test to play.

"They are very professional, very tough cricketers," said Richardson in Antigua.

"They back themselves, they work hard, give a hundred per cent all the time and it is just very hard to beat them.

"In order for you to beat them, you just have to go out there and dominate them.

"I think they are probably one of the best teams in the world at the moment and it is not going to be easy."

Richardson, who led West Indies in 24 Tests, called on his former team to be more positive.

"There are times when you have to be defensive, but most times you have to be aggressive," he said.

"You can be aggressive in your defence. You can play a forward defensive and the way you play it can exude confidence, positiveness and dominance.

"You look at the players, you look at their facial expression and it is like, this is tough, I think I am going to come second.

"The West Indies teams in the past have always walked with confidence, with positiveness. You see it, just the way they walk and things like this. That has left the team at the moment and we have to bring it back.

"I just think it is a stage we are going through. We can't afford to knock the players too hard. I think what West Indies cricket needs right now is support.

"The players need support, our cricket needs support and that's what we got to do. We can't afford to make too much criticism.

"Whatever we do, the criticism that you make, have got to be constructive and positive."
