Springboks leave out Montgomery
Percy Montgomery
Montgomery has not been dropped in four years
Percy Montgomery has been left out of a South Africa squad for the first time since making his debut in 1997.

The Springboks' most-capped full-back did not feature in the 26-man squad named on Tuesday for the forthcoming Tri-Nations matches.

South Africa play Australia in Perth on 18 August and New Zealand in Auckland on 25 August.

Conrad Jantjes
Jantjes was man of the match on Saturday

Montgomery, 27, who made his debut against the Lions in 1997, has appeared in 48 internationals and scored 261 points, the second highest individual total in South Africa's history.

He was dropped from the starting XV for last Saturday's game against Australia in favour of 21-year-old Conrad Jantjes, who delivered a man-of-the-match performance in the 20-15 win.

There was a surprise recall to the squad in the shape of Natal Sharks centre Andre Snyman, who has not played international rugby for two years due to injuries.

Natal lock Albert van den Berg also returns after a chest injury sustained in the second international against France in June.

South Africa squad:

Forwards: Bobby Skinstad (captain), Johan Ackermann, Mark Andrews, Robbie Kempson, Corne Krige, Ollie le Roux, Victor Matfield, Willie Meyer, John Smit, Lukas van Biljon, Albert van den Berg, Johann van Niekerk, Cobus Visagie, Andre Vos, Andre Venter.

Backs: Neil de Kock, Thinus Delport, Robbie Fleck, Dean Hall, Conrad Jantjes, Butch James, Deon Kayser, Breyton Paulse, Andre Snyman, Braam van Straaten, Joost van der Westhuizen.
