Charvis desperate to get involved

BBC Sport Online columnist Colin Charvis is hoping for a change of luck as the Lions prepare for Saturday's decider in Sydney.

My frustration at missing the Second Test has been re-ignited by the Richard Hill incident.

Hilly is out of the series decider because he was hit late with a shoulder by Wallabies centre Nathan Gray.

On the video it looks fairly clear that it was reckless and so the Lions management expected that the citing commissioner would take some action.

Instead, it looks like the whole thing has been swept under the carpet.

Given that I was banned for two games after an incident in the First Test it does seem very inconsistent.

On top of the anger over Richard's concussion, everyone obviously is feeling down at the moment because Saturday was an excellent opportunity to win the series.

Melbourne was virtually an away game for the Wallabies, so it represented a wonderful chance for us to wrap things up.

Now we have to go to Sydney, where Australia don't lose very often so we know we have a mountain to climb.

A few of the guys are carrying bruises and sadly both Rob Howley and Hill are out of the tour.

We now have to rest our bones and then see how we can shape up in terms of fitness at the first training session this week.

Richard had been playing very well and his absence will be a big blow.

But after missing out on the Second Test it could open things up for me to get a place on the bench.

That is, unless the management decide to bring someone else over to jump ahead of me in the queue!

Charvis has relished his role as the communicator
I don't anticipate a place in the starting line-up because I know that Graham Henry and Andy Robinson like to have a line-out jumper in the back row and so that points to Martin Corry.

But maybe I'm due some luck, so who knows?

My luck certainly didn't change on Saturday night. I was due to be a water-boy for the team which at least would have allowed me to feel involved.

But as soon as I appeared on the pitch before kick-off with my headset on, the Aussies must have complained because of my suspension.

The Lions management didn't want to risk any more problems so I had to hand the job onto someone else.

Maybe Saturday will finally be my lucky day.
