![]() | I am not afraid to move on ![]() BBC Sport Online columnist Brian O'Driscoll says that he would consider moving on following his heroics with Lions Down Under. I have heard that I can name my own price tag. It is nice to know, but I would not move unless everything was very much in my favour. Money is not everything, but you would like to be sure that you are receiving what your are worth. I still have a year of my present contract to remain in Ireland. I have to admit that I was a little wary and even a little scared of making a big move last season. To be honest I am a bit of a home bird. But I have matured a lot in the last year, I am a little older and wiser. Now I would not be afraid to make a move - if the right one happened to come along.
It is something that I cannot think about now. I just want to concentrate on winning the Test series for the Lions. After the tour and when I return home, I will sit down and give it some thought. But at present moving anywhere is certainly not on my priority list - relaxing is. Others in the squad are planning this and that. Me, well, I just do things on the spur of the moment. I am very keen on lying around just doing nothing. But really it is all about doing things off the cuff. You are under no stress that way. I am not a great one for planning this or that. After training I would go for a meal, or watch a film, or just sit around. The victory against the Brumbies was brilliant. What a fight-back and Matt (Dawson) was given a hero's welcome after the game just like any other player who had kicked the winning points. A win is a win, and the winning score was achieved after 12 phases of play. There was the same celebration after the game as there was after last Saturday's first Test victory. Things have been a bit hectic since then, but I do not take all the media hype that serious.
And we can expect the full treatment from the Wallabies in the second test. After last Saturday, they will come at us with everything - including the kitchen sink thrown in for good measure. Look they are a very good side, who were very hurt by what happened last week, and you can bet your life they will be better than last week. Expect the game to go right down to the wire. It will be a very, very tough game. What else would you expect with the Wallabies trying to silence the Lions roar? We have done nothing different in preparation for the game, and everyone is in very good spirits. The Lions tour is everything I thought it would be. It has been a very big learning process. The standard of rugby has been equal, if not better, than I thought it would be. I am just glad to be a part of it, and it is something that I will never forget. It will probably only really sink in when I get home and start reflecting on what happened. Hopefully it will be about winning a Test series! |
