No time to wallow
Colin Charvis refuses to feel sorry for himself
Colin Charvis refuses to feel sorry for himself
Lions flanker Colin Charvis reflects on the moment that cost him a place in next Saturday's second Test against Australia.

I have to admit that this has been a very up and down tour for me.

I've spent most of the time depressed rather than upbeat about being here.

But I have learnt the lesson over the last few weeks that there is no point in giving up or feeling sorry for myself.

It seems he's been a wee bit flippant
  Charvis on Matt Dawson
I'm telling myself: "Hold on Colin, the media believe in you, you've played well, it's not as if you've been charged with gross misconduct.

"You've got to keep interested and see what happens."

I was very disappointed in what happened on Saturday and very disappointed in myself for being cited again, but I think the leniency in only being banned for a week shows there was no malice in what I did.

It probably looked a hell of a lot worse than it was when it was played a few times on TV, but there was no injury to the player and Nick Stiles got up and carried on.

Humour

We decided against an appeal because, as has happened before with these hearings, it is more a case of you being in breach of the rules and they just have to work out by how much.

The black and white of it is I've been banned and it's another week out of the tour for me.

But I must keep on training and keep myself in Graham Henry's mind for the third Test.

It hasn't been the best of days for the Lions, especially with the furore over Matt Dawson.

I haven't read what he wrote - but I'd like to.

It seems he's been a wee bit flippant as the other guys who've been disappointed have taken it on the chin.

But I suspect there was a bit of humour - as well as realism - in what he's written, although it's important we don't let this rock the boat.

And as for disunity in the ranks - well, we're obviously doing something right if we can beat the Wallabies in such a fashion.
