Australia will be in the unfamiliar position of underdogs on the final day of the Test series in India.

They lead by 131 with three wickets standing after off-spinner Harbhajan Singh again proved the master of their batting line-up.

"I think it is definitely advantage India because the wicket is still playing well and it is pretty firm," said batsman Mark Waugh.

Singh's figures of five for 82 has taken his total against Australia to 29, an Indian record for a three-Test series.

"I would rate him right up there. He is bowling with a lot of confidence. He has good variation.

"Just when I thought I was getting the measure of him, I was out," Waugh added.

Skipper and twin brother Steve Waugh is now Australia's main hope as they bid to record their first series win in India since 1969-70.

He finished the fourth day on 43 not out and has said he believes India will struggle to score many more than 150 for victory.

"We will go for whatever is set for us," said Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

"The wicket is taking turn but it is not vicious to create any panic. We don't want to let go having come so far."

Victory for the home side would be a magnificent achievement for the home side after losing the first Test by 10 wickets.

They have had to manage without their two most experienced bowlers, Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath.

But Singh's performance allied to the batting of VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar has given them every chance.
