![]() | Your verdict on the Derby ![]() Galileo had punters seeing stars as he won the Derby with a scintillating display. It was one of the fastest times in the race, watched by a massive crowd, and back on the BBC for the first time in 22 years. Give us your verdict on the drama on the Downs. Irish eyes were not just smiling, they were dancing, as Galileo sent their hopes into orbit. The three-and-a-half length winning margin over Golan barely tells the story. Galileo looked awesome, and trainer Aidan O'Brien reckons he could "gallop on water." It was the first Derby winner sired by that super stallion Sadler's Wells. So is Galileo one of the best Derby winners, or was the rest of the field disappointing? Can he go on to even greater success and be the sport's equine superstar? Were you at Derby Day? What did you think of the colour, atmosphere, facilities? And give us your verdict on the BBC's coverage, be it television, radio or online. An insane performance by Galileo. Like his namesake he will go down in history as a great discoverer nad record-breaker. I look forward to his many more performances. Hopefully the Arc. Forget about the slow early pace and think about the amazing finish. Galileo and Mick Kinane showed that the race could have been run in any style and they would have had all the answers. Bring on the Curragh, and Galileo will definately frank his Epsom form. It was a potentially great race, totally ruined by the lack of pace in the early stages. As a result the race was a total disappointment and virtual non-event. Unless you backed the winner!
Point Given v Galileo: what a race it will be when these two giants meet at the Breeder's Cup Classic later this year! Thank you for allowing us to see the Derby on the Internet. This was the only way I could see the entire Derby here in Alaska. Wonderful race and I hope that Galileo comes to the Breeder's Cup! I was thrilled to see the audio visual of the Derby on the BBC website. I hope the BBC continues to cover the Derby, thus giving the great race the stature in broadcasting that it richly deserves. The camera-work was absolutely brilliant at Epsom. About the best I've seen with the BBC. Please keep up the good work. It made it all worthwhile being able to see which horses finished in which position. Channel 4 and the Racing Channel could do with some lessons.
Peter Nealon, Ireland He was brilliant and the coverage by the Beeb was faultless. Ah, what sweet success for the Irish, just as I had predicted earlier in the week. Flying at the finish, this horse will go on to win many more important races and it's fantastic for Sadler's Wells. I love horse racing and the Derby was excellent. I was there, and I loved every minute of it - a brilliant day out. |
