Internet first for Epsom meeting
Johnny Murtagh and Sinndar win last year's race
Johnny Murtagh leads Sinndar to victory in last year
A total of nine races will be screened live on the BBC during the two days of Epsom - and in an historic first, BBC Sport Online will be showing every single one of them.

Wherever viewers are in the world, as long as they have internet access, they will be able to watch unprecedented coverage of these races.

With a total of 43 cameras ensuring that everything both on and off the course is covered, this year's Epsom will be the most technologically-advanced ever.

Innovations including a "speedometer" to demonstrate how fast the horses are travelling.

New dedicated cameras are set to follow the fortunes of the two favourites, Golan and Galileo, will be used.

Unrivalled coverage

On the eve of the race as anticipation builds, BBC Two previews the showpiece event in The Night Before The Derby.

Meanwhile, BBC Five Live presents a tribute to Peter Bromley, the renowned racing commentator who is retiring after 42 years in the commentary box.

Internet users will be able to watch and listen to live coverage of both days' racing at the Vodafone Derby meeting.

Malcolm Kemp, Executive Producer of BBC Sport, hopes that the coverage will bring the undulations of the Epsom course alive to the viewer at home.

"Cameras tend to flatten out gradients, contours and uneven surfaces and one of the key elements of the Epsom course is the downhill section," he said.

"We are hoping to provide the viewer with more of a feeling of that terrain using computer-generated graphics and low-angled camera shots."
