Doubts surround Kirtley
James Kirtley (centre) claimed two wickets against Zimbabwe but doubts were raised about his action
Kirtley had a successful England debut on Wednesday
England's selectors will watch James Kirtley to determine whether "chucking" allegations have unsettled the fast bowler ahead of the second one-day international against Zimbabwe on Saturday.

Yorkshire's Chris Silverwood is standing by for a recall if it is decided that comments by match referee Colonel Naushad Ali have undermined Kirtley's confidence .

"Someone was talking to me about his past history and based on that I have a little concern and I've requested video footage," confirmed Colonel Naushad Ali.

Captain Nasser Hussain is determined to clinch the series before experimenting with the side.

But he may be forced to shuffle his pack if Kirtley shows signs of strain in Friday's net session at the Zimbabwe Academy.

The allegations come less than a year after an England and Wales Cricket Board investigation cleared his action during an A tour to New Zealand.

Though Colonel Ali insists he has not yet written to the ICC, he promised he would look at Kirtley's bowling action again if he plays on Saturday.

Kirtley's action has been questioned before
"If there is something I will follow the ICC procedures and inform the team management - I can't take a decision until I have seen the video footage again in slow motion," he said.

The Kirtley controversy comes as a major blow to the player, just two days after he starred in England's win over Zimbabwe in Harare.

Assuming the bowler wins the backing of the tour management, England are expected to keep faith with the players that ended their dismal run of 11 defeats in one-day games.

Heath Streak, who missed Zimbabwe's eighth successive one-day defeat with a back strain, may return in place of the inexperienced Doug Hondo.
