Anna O'Leary hammered a magnificent 89 as New Zealand romped to victory in front of their home supporters at the BIL Oval.

O'Leary's knock helped her side build a formidable total which India never looked like threatening.

She was supported well by Debbie Hockley (53), who became the first woman to pass 4,000 runs in one-day internationals in the course of her innings.

Haidee Tiffen gave New Zealand's total a final boost by racing to an unbeaten 50 from just 36 balls after being dropped before she had scored.

Haidee Tiffen: India were unable to contain here

"When I was dropped off the first ball I faced, I said to myself 'Let's make them pay for it'," she said.

"It all came off for me. I like running between the wickets and putting pressure on the field."

Tiffen then took two for 23 to help restrict India to 151 for seven in their 50 overs, despite 59 not out by Chanderkanta Kaul.

The victory meant New Zealand are clear favourites to finish second in the table and thereby avoid Australia in the semi-finals.
