![]() | Swansea one step closer ![]() Seremaia Bai of Cross Keys collides with Kevin Morgan Swansea pounded basement club Cross Keys with eight tries - including a penalty try - to continue their relentless march to the Welsh-Scottish League title. Replacement hooker Gareth Mason and number eight Lee Jones led the try charge with a brace of touchdowns each. Wings Matthew Robinson and Shaun Payne also crossed the line along with centre David Weatherley. Outside-half Cerith Rees kicked a penalty and seven conversions to take his league points tally for the campaign to 104. Cross Keys fought bravely, but their only try came from wing Chris Arnold while Fijian international outside-half Seremaia Bai landed a penalty. Keys got away to a good start with Bai kicking his 30-metre goal in the second minute, but powerful Swansea clicked into gear with wings Robinson and Payne both racing over for tries. The visitors were then awarded a thirteenth penalty try after Keys were judged to have deliberately pulled down a maul near their line. Arnold stemmed the tide of points with his touchdown after 28 minutes, but deep in first-half injury time Swansea's frontrow Mason snapped up another try. Outside-half Rees kicked a penalty and three conversions before the interval to make the half-time score 29-8. Earlier, there had been a long stoppage after home scrum-half Colin Ellis had to be stretchered from the field with what appeared to be a serious shoulder injury. Scorers - Cross Keys: Tries: Arnold.
