Edinburgh 48-12 Cross Keys

Clinical Edinburgh Reivers earned sweet revenge over the league's basement club at Myreside to step up their drive for a top-five finish and inflict more misery on doomed Keys.

But Reivers coach Frank Hadden was left frustrated.

"We did a good demolition job before the break, but I am disappointed that we didn't score a lot more tries later on," he said.

"On the positive front, the fact that we were comfortably ahead gave me the chance to bring everyone off the bench because these guys needed a run."

Keys assistant coach Geraint Jones said: "It was always likely to be a game too far for us.

"We had performed superbly against Cardiff in midweek and it was too much to expect a bunch of amateurs to do the same a few days later.

"Being without our only international, Andrew Gibbs, was also a major hindrance because we struggled to get into any set-piece rhythm."

Slick

Reivers had the points in the bag before the 20-minute mark as they claimed three well-worked tries - without letting the Welshmen getting a sniff of the line.

Duncan Hodge broke the deadlock with a simple penalty to steady any nerves, and then the slick handling began, yielding scores for Craig Smith, Conan Sharman and Chris Paterson.

Graham Dall added another before the interval, before Paterson and Marcus di Rollo rounded off the rout.

To their credit, Keys refused to buckle completely and they created two late consolation scores from full-back Chad Bushell, one of which was converted by Fijian Seri Bai.

Hodge and substitute Gordon Ross shared the remainder of the Reivers points.
