Bridgend secured their 11th victory of the season as Dennis John's side powered their way to a narrow win.

Pontypridd started the game with more purpose and were rewarded for their early endeavour and enterprise with a try after seven minutes.

A sliced crossfield kick from outside half Lee Jarvis was fumbled by Bridgend winger Simon Hill, allowing his opposite number Sonny Parker to hack on and beat the Bridgend defence for the touchdown. Jarvis converted.

The sides exchanged penalties and with a quarter of an hour played Ponty held a deserved lead 10-3.

But Bridgend were spurred into action by captain Chris Stephens as their forward dominance began to overwhelm the visitors.

Referee Chuck Muir penalised Pontypridd twice and Bridgend fly-half Craig Warlow added the points to narrow the score and trail by one point at the interval.

Bridgend continued to press in the second half as Pontypridd had no answer to their forward play.

Some superb running by the Bridgend backs orchestrated by centre John Devereux saw the ball move from one side of the field to the other before some excellent driving play set up a try for Lyndon Mustoe.

Warlow converted to put Bridgend in front for the first time.

The remainder of the second half saw Pontypridd pile on the pressure but Bridgend held out for the points.
