Cardiff 31-11 Glasgow Caledonians

Two superb second-half tries by flying wing Craig Morgan - taking his season's tally to 18 - gave the watching Graham Henry a reminder of his talents and helped Cardiff to a much-needed victory.

The defending league champions, still reeling from their midweek defeat by lowly Ebbw Vale, found themselves behind in the opening minute to a Tommy Hayes penalty.

But Glasgow suffered a blow themselves when centre James McLaren was yellow carded for preventing a quick penalty and just before his 10 minutes' exile elapsed Cardiff went ahead with a fine try.

A storming run by number eight Greg Kacala freed Morgan and although he was held up an inside pass sent Rhys Williams over.

Neil Jenkins converted, to add to an earlier penalty.

But Hayes landed a 50-yard kick to keep the Scots in touch at half-time. With the wind at their backs, Cardiff extended their lead in the opening exchanges of the second period, Morgan popping up inside his right wing to cross in the corner.

And his second effort, a magnificent kick-and-chase solo run from 70 yards, brought the crowd to its feet and ended the game as a contest.

Centre Gareth Thomas added a further try for Cardiff with scrum-half Fraser Stott crossing for a consolation score for the visitors in the closing seconds.
