Edinburgh Reivers wore down their hosts to secure their first win in Wales this season.

A Geraint Lewis try in the first half looked to have put Caerphilly in the ascendancy, but then winger Nigel Berbillion put a foot over the dead ball line attempting to ground the ball under the posts.

It was to prove a costly blow to Caerphilly, who went in at the break 6-5 down following two converted penalties from Edinburgh fly-half Duncan Hodge.

And Reivers turned up the pressure after the restart.

Scrum-half Mark Lee crossed under the posts only for referee Paul Adams to bring back play to the halfway line for a previous infringement.

Hodge kicked a huge penalty to increase the Edinburgh lead and when he was taken off his replacement Gordon Ross landed a fourth penalty for the Scots.

The local team at last put together a structured movement to please their supporters but centre David Hawkins chose to turn inside when a clear overlap had formed outside him.

Another penalty by Ross in the last 10 minutes put paid to any hopes Caerphilly had of staging a late fightback.
