Neath put Keys to the sword
Patrick Horgan
Patrick Horgan played a staring role for Neath
Neath 66-12 Cross Keys

Impressive Neath swept aside basement club Cross Keys in the Pandy Park mud to clock up no fewer than 11 tries, including a penalty try.

It was the second time that the Welsh All Blacks had put Keys to the sword this season because they also notched up 11 touchdowns when the teams last met in September.

Neath will now fancy their chances of clinching a place among the League's top five clubs

. The visitors had two outstanding performers in Tongan international flanker Kati Tuipulotu and right wing Kevin James, both of whom grabbed two tries apiece.

You could not fault Keys for their energy and effort and to their credit they snapped up two second half tries through hooker Lee Gardner and wing Chris Arnold, the latter grabbing his score in the last move of the game.

But this was very much one-way traffic and Neath could have amassed a bigger total if the ground conditions had been kinder for goalkicking.

Debutant South African fly-half Greg Miller was only able to convert four of the tries and kick a penalty.

In the second half landslide Nathan Bonner-Evans, Mefin Davies and Gareth Morris also scored tries.

Neath hammered Cross Keys 73-22 on September 30 and they had their opponents in big trouble from the opening minutes.

First Keys were dealt a hammer blow when they lost their international back row forward Andrew Gibbs with an eye injury in the fifth minute.

Before the home men could get replacement Paul Watkins on to the field, Neath opened their account when lively prop Duncan Jones crossed for a try after being put clear by centre Tristan Davies. South African fly-half Miller converted.

Wings James and Shane Williams and centre James Storey added tries in an easy first half for the visitors.

Miller kicked a penalty and converted Storey's try to make the interval score 27-0 in Neath's favour.
