Pontypridd 54-0 Ebbw Vale

Following a series of disappointing results, Pontypridd are well and truly back on track in the Welsh-Scottish Premier Division after recording a convincing win and a season's double over visitors Ebbw Vale.

This was an outstanding team display by much-improved Pontypridd.

They outclassed their struggling opponents at all phases with their power, pace and many skills.

Pontypridd began at a cracking pace, taking the lead in the third minute with a try from hooker Feao Vunipola after a Dale McIntosh break. Brett Davey converted.

Winging in

Staying on the offensive, Ponty increased their hold in the 10th minute with a gem of a try.

Inter-passing by the forwards and backs in the 22 let in wing Lenny Woodard, a former Ebbw player, under the posts and Davey converted.

With the forwards on top at all phases the Vale were pinned on the defensive, conceding three penalties that Davey slotted over to increase his side's tally.

In the closing stages of the half Ponty struck again. From 40 metres out centre Sonny Parker dummied and glided past the gaping defence to cross at the corner. Davey again converted.

Ponty continued on the offensive after the break, setting up moves that fully stretched the Vale defence.

In the 53rd minute Ponty's Jonathan Bryant intercepted deep into his own 22 to race up field and was only desperately tackled on the point of touchdown.

As the half progressed play became scrappy and disjointed, but Davey slotted over his fourth penalty for Ponty.

In the closing stages the home side cut loose, adding further touchdowns from Ceri Sweeney, Gareth Wyatt and Woodard, all converted by Davey.
