Caerphilly 45-14 Ebbw Vale

Caerphilly's extra hunger took them to a convincing victory over in-trouble Ebbw Vale, keeping their unbeaten home record.

They scored five tries to the Steelmen's one, wing Nigel Berbillion's double coming from keenly chased kicks ahead.

Talented 21-year-old fly-half Luke Richards controlled the game for the home side, contributing 20 points with the boot.

Ebbw Vale, with three players from their side in the full Wales squad, will have expected more from their team.

Our problem hasn't been scoring, it's been keeping them out

Caerphilly coach Gareth Nicholas was delighted with the win, saying "today was one of the ups."

"Caerphilly nor Ebbw Vale are used to winning this season," he added.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Nicholas revealed he was nervous until the end, following a number of late collapses by his team this season.

"Our problem hasn't been scoring, it's been keeping them out," he said.

Nicholas noted the performance of Luke Richards and several of his other youngsters, claiming they should have been rewarded with representative honours:

"It would be nice to have representation in some of the squads," he said.
