Today's moment came courtesy of a band, who were providing entertainment at the side of the road during the race.

For some reason, a few of the riders thought the sound of the band was that of a crash further ahead.

They automatically braked, causing an actual accident at the back of the field.

Among those riders to fall was Australia's Stuart O'Grady who won the tour of Britain two years ago.

O'Grady fell heavily on his shoulder and struggled along to the finish in pain, some 22 minutes behind the leaders.

He went straight to hospital and we wait to see if he can continue in the race.
