Open all hours on the BBC

There will be more hours of live Open golf coverage than ever before on the BBC this year, enhanced by the introduction of a new interactive service.

Digital terrestrial viewers will be able to enjoy all the live action alongside a constantly updated leaderboard, headline news, reports, statistics, history of the original golf championship and a whole host of other features.

The Open interactive service follows on from the highly successful launch of interactive Wimbledon last month.

BBC Online are providing this special Open Championship website.

It features a live scoreboard; live streaming of BBC Radio 5 Live commentary; the background and history of the Open; interviews of golfing legends by Steve Rider; a daily comment on the day's play by Ken Brown and an opportunity to debate the day's issues by e-mail in the Sportstalk forum.

And BBC Ceefax will once again be bringing an impressive array of news, reports and latest scores live from the course.

Steve Rider fronts the BBC TV coverage of the 129th Open, beginning on Thursday 20 July and ending on Sunday 23 July.

Peter Alliss, Alex Hay, Ken Brown and Jerry Pate head a full team of on-course commentators, with Dougie Donnelly providing the post-round interviews with the players.

Tony Adamson and John Inverdale introduce BBC Radio 5 Live's extensive and authoritative coverage of full on-course commentary and interviews.
