![]() | Swansea make L'Aquila pay dear ![]() Matthew Robinson: tournament's leading try scorer with six Heineken Cup, Pool Two L'Aquila 6-70 Swansea Swansea maintained their 100% record in Heineken Cup Pool Two as they destroyed L'Aquila at Stade Comunale Fattori. Nine tries, seven of them in the second half, buried the hapless Italians, who remain without a win after three games. The All Whites were always in charge after scoring a first-minute try through hooker Chris Wells, replacement for the suspended Garin Jenkins. The emphatic triumph keeps John Plumtree's side in the driving seat in their pool, with L'Aquila to come at home and Wasps and Stade Francais away. Complacency Swansea had vowed there would be no complacency on their mission to the Italian mountains and they were as good as their word as they stormed into a 20-0 lead in 17 minutes. Wells was over first, profiting from a change in direction after Mark Taylor had broken the first line of cover. Arwel Thomas converted and then banged over a penalty before Matthew Robinson raced across from 40 metres to leave L'Aquila chasing the game. It was 23-3 at the break and Swansea did not let up in a one-sided second period. They were too strong up front, too quick behind and too solid in defence for the Italians. Tongan Sililo Martens, the man-of-the-match, put in countless heavy tackles, while Dean Thomas was not far behind in putting his body on the line. The one-way classic after the interval saw Scott Gibbs, Arwel Thomas, Wells, Shaun Payne, Martens, Robinson and Taylor cross as the All Whites ran riot. Thomas finished with a match haul of 22 points. Scorers - L'Aquila: Pens: Hostie 2 Swansea: Tries: S Payne, MTaylor, S Gibbs, M Robinson 2, A Thomas, S Martens, C Wells 2. Cons: A Thomas 4, C Rees 4.
