Stephen Jones kicked the goals which underlined Llanelli's Heineken Cup recovery and kept the pressure on Pool Five leaders Gloucester.

Jones landed five penalty goals and converted tries by flanker Mike Buckingham, lock Chris Wyatt and centre Dafydd James to tot up 21 points as the Scarlets built on the morale-boosting win in France last week.

The Wales fly-half Jones did it while playing out of position at inside centre as his club decided it was high time the inventive Alex Lawson got in some match practice.

Lawson seized his rare chance eagerly in an impressive display which made sure that Jones and man-of-the-match James had every chance to show their class and power in midfield.

Pressure

James scored the first try after 27 minutes following Jones' opening penalty.

Jones landed three more before the break when his side were 14-0 ahead.

The Scarlets upped the pressure in the second half when James' strong running caused the willing but tiring Italian champions no end of problems as the ball was spun wide and often.

After Jones' fifth penalty within eight minutes of the restart, Llanelli took complete control and sparkling tries for James, Buckingham, Wyatt and wing Mark Jones right on the final whistle helped give Llanelli their biggest win in the competition.
