![]() | Players warned about conduct ![]() Gough reacted to comments made by the opposition England 's cricketers have been warned about their behaviour in Sri Lanka after complaints about comments made by Darren Gough. Coach Duncan Fletcher has reminded the players of their responsibilities after Gough was accused of threatening two players following his dismissal against a Colts XI in Morutawa. "Darren reacted to derogatory remarks made by the opposition after being given out," said Fletcher. "He hasn't been reported, and the Sri Lankan Board have made no formal complaint about the matter.
The last time the two sides met Sri Lankan batsman Roshan Mahanama barged into Gough and Arjuna Ranatunga led his players from the field after Muttiah Muralitharan had been no-balled. The hosts were also keen to ensure the tour was not clouded in controversy. "We don't want to strain relationships with England at the start of the tour so we will handle the incident in a very diplomatic way," said Sri Lankan Board secretary Mohan de Silva. | See also: Other top England on Tour stories: Links to top England on Tour stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||
