Pakistan captain Moin Khan has conceded that England deserved to win the match after playing to the conditions better than the home side.

"It was a difficult day. Unfortunately we lost the game," said Moin. "They exploited the conditions better than us and they deserved to win.

"We did not bat well and that cost us the match," he said.

Dark conditions

Moin also conceded that England had the advantage over the three Tests.

"We dominated in the second Test. England had the upper hand in the first game and came back in the game here.

"Overall England played very well in the series."

However, Moin said the umpire should have acted and ended the match, claiming his side had difficulty picking up the ball in the light during the closing stages.

"It was difficult for everyone out there," he said.

"We were telling the umpires that the fielders couldn't see the ball properly and I have never played in such dark conditions before.

Third-wicket partnership

The home side lost by six wickets in near darkness.

England appeared to be heading when the hosts resumed 88 ahead on 71 for three.

But Pakistan lost six wickets for 30 runs either side of the interval to leave England needing 176 for victory off a minimum of 44 overs.

A third-wicket partnership of 91 between Graham Thorpe and Graeme Hick provided the bedrock for England's first Test match victory in the country since 1961, with Thorpe (64no) snatching the winning two runs as night fell in Karachi.
