Round three - Tiger at the USPGA

Woods is hunting down the opposition
See how Tiger Woods fared during his third round at the Hazeltine course.

Tiger's third round score:
Four under

Tiger Woods shot a level par round of 72 after an exciting day's golf.

The world number one picked up one birdie and did not drop a shot until the final hole.

Despite better accuracy off the tee, Woods has mostly had long range birdie attempts but his par putting was perfect but for the final hole.

Hole-by-hole

Hole 18: A very wayward drive, which soars over to the right and towards the hospitality tent. With apparently no shot on and his line blocked by trees, Woods hooks a mid iron through every obstacle and onto the greenside fringe. His chip is clumsy and goes past the flag by some ten feet. He misses - his first dropped shot of the day.

Hole 17: Woods' eight iron is perfect for line but not for distance - his ball comes up short on this par three and is off the green. The chip is maybe six inches short of the cup - another par for the two-time USPGA champion.
Five under

Hole 16: A four iron finds the heart of the fairway on this signature hole. He makes an awful mess of his second, pulling it way off to the left, off the green. His chip is not great and a bogey beckons. But not for Woods, who holes an exceptional putt from 25 feet.
Five under

Hole 15: A not so perfect drive from Woods which slices violently from left to right and into the trees of the right of the hole. He lays up and faces a long third shot of 206 yards. The shot is perhaps his best of the day - a six iron which goes right at the flag and leaves him a 15 feet putt for birdie. His putt just slides off to the left.
Five under

Hole 14: A perfect drive into the middle of the fairway. He flies his second onto the green, although he will have a long putt for birdie. His putt misses the left edge of the cup by an inch. Another par.
Five under

Hole 13: A seven iron to within 10 feet of the pin - Woods seems to have his game under total control. He misses the putt but makes his par.
Five under

Hole 12: Woods drives his ball to the right of the fairway. His seven iron approach drops short and to the right and his chip back onto the green shaves the hole but drifts 10 feet past. He holes yet another par putt.
Five under

Hole 11: Woods drills his driver to the centre of the fairway. On this par five, Woods goes for it in two and with a three wood, he finds the centre of the green for an eagle attempt. The shot travels 262 yards. He two-putts for his first birdie of the day.
Five under

Hole 10: Woods pushes his tee shot off to the right. He finds the front of his green with his second but the putt goes a long way past the hole. But he holes out again.
Four under

Hole nine: His drive - with a three wood - hangs to the right and lands in a fairway bunker. But Woods retains a wry smile. There are no smiles after the next shot, which lands in a greenside bunker. He hits a solid bunker shot to about five feet from the cup. The putt moves very slowly but surely toward the cup before dropping.
Four under

Hole eight: Woods finds the middle of the green on this dangerous par three, where water on the right can claim anyone's ball. Another two-putt means another par.
Four under

Hole seven: Another perfect drive on this reachable par five. He goes for broke with his second and it does not pay off, his ball landing on the right of the green, in between the collection of bunkers. He is faced with a terrible stance for his pitch and can only drag it onto the green for a long birdie putt. He underhits the putt and has to settle for another par.
Four under

Hole six: Woods hits an immaculate tee shot to find the centre of the fairway. His second flies over the pin and leaves him another long range effort for birdie. Unusually, he leaves his putt short. His par putt spins around the cup but drops.
Four under

Hole five: After two immaculate shots, Woods has a 35 foot putt for birdie - but his putt just fails to take the break at the end. Another par.
Four under

Hole four: With a seven iron, Woods finds the centre of the green and will face a 25 foot putt for birdie. He fails to pick up a shot, but gets his par.
Four under

Hole three: Woods unleashes a massive drive lands in the thick rough on the right side of the fairway. He takes just a pitching wedge to put his ball back on the fairway, but he faces a very long third on this huge par five. A six iron sets up a long birdie chance but he makes another par.
Four under

Hole two: Woods hits a mid iron tee shot which finds the right side of the fairway - the grass, soft after a full night's rain, stops the ball on its second bounce. His approach comes up ten yards short of the green but it is a birdie opportunity. His putt nearly drops, but it is another par, nonetheless.
Four under

Hole one: Woods tees off, taking a driver and landing perfectly on the fairway. His second shot creeps onto the green and will give him an excellent chance for birdie. His putt seems perfectly judged but it just drifts off to the left.
