| Plucky Parnevik catches Woods ![]() Tiger failed to take control of the match Jesper Parnevik v Tiger Woods (Match halved) Jesper Parnevik put on a defiant display to snatch a late half for Europe in the Ryder Cup singles on Sunday. Parnevik kept up the pressure in a tense clash with Tiger Woods to take the game to the final hole. The Swedish wildcard refused to buckle to the world number one and held on to grab a half after both agreed to concede. But the match was of little consequence as the Ryder Cup had already been won by Europe's Paul McGinley while the players were on the previous hole. Despite the cheers erupting from the adjacent green, the American and Swede decided to continue playing. It was an impressive comback from Parnevik, who was behind for most of the front nine. The Swede held on against an indifferent Woods and even went one-up temporarily after birdies at the 11th and 13th hole. But it was his Californian opponent who approached the final green ahead by a hole before agreeing to halve the irrelevant match. |
