Graeme McDowell finishes joint third in Singapore Open
Graeme McDowell is chasing Martin Kaymer in the Race to Dubai
Graeme McDowell reduced Martin Kaymer's lead in the Race to Dubai by finishing joint third in the Singapore Open.
McDowell posted a one-under 70 to tie with with Sweden's Rikard Karlberg, four shots behind winner Adam Scott.
The Northern Irishman could have made further inroads into Kaymer's European Tour list advantage if he had made a three-foot putt on the final green.
"I hit two decent putts but walked away with a five. It was a shame to finish on a sour note," said McDowell.
"But I am chipping away at it. I am playing Hong Kong next week and he is not."
The players had returned to the Sentosa Golf Club early on Monday morning to complete their fourth rounds after thunderstorms caused a five-and-a-half-hour suspension of play on Sunday.
Australian Scott finished on 17 under par, two shots better than runner-up Anders Hansen of Denmark.
Belfast player Michael Hoey had a two-over 73 to finish on one over for the tournament, while Ballyclare's Gareth Maybin ended on three over after a 71.
Ireland's Peter Lawrie's 73 saw him finish on five under par with Shane Lowry on three over.
