Montgomerie and Bjorn are hoping to lead Europe to success

European Ryder Cup vice-captain Thomas Bjorn says he has been impressed by captain Colin Montgomerie's attention to detail ahead of next week's match.

Bjorn has had a frosty relationship with the Scot in the past but that has long been forgotten for the competition at Celtic Manor from 1-3 October.

"Monty's just thought of everything, and everything there is to know about everybody he knows," said Dane Bjorn.

"He's a great inspiration when it comes to team golf."

Bjorn, 39, was part of the European teams which beat the United States in 1997 and 2002 and was chosen by Montgomerie as one of his four vice-captains along with Darren Clarke, Paul McGinley and Sergio Garcia.

Bjorn and Montgomerie clashed on the opening day of the 2004 Johnnie Walker Championship in Bangkok when organisers of the event had to ask the duo to go to separate rooms to cool down after their rounds following some heated words on the course.

But Bjorn, who is playing in this week's Vivendi Cup in France is full of praise for what the 47-year-old captain has done ahead of next week's clash in Wales

"There is only one thing that is on Monty's mind at present and that's his job to deliver Europe victory," Bjorn added.

"I've played with Monty in past Ryder Cup teams and he's been great those weeks I've played with him.

"He's been very much superb in the team room and we have loved to play under him, and everyone has always got on very well with him, and at times far better than they would have under any other captain.

"You just can't ask a question or question something that he hasn't thought about already.

"Bernhard [Langer] was that way and is one of the captains I personally liked and Monty's the same because he knows everything about every member of the team.

"He wasn't scared to appoint four people, in the four vice-captains, who have big opinions in his team because a lot of captains would be scared to have that strong a backroom team

"Judging by how Monty's been conducting affairs so far we are looking pretty good."
