Banbury golfer Gary Boyd says his joint second-place finish at the Czech Open on Sunday was like a "dream come true."

The 23-year-old narrowly missed out on victory after Peter Hanson beat him and Peter Lawrie in the play-off.

Boyd told BBC Radio Northampton: "It's my best achievement so far. It's what you practice for and I felt I handled the situation well.

"It's my first top 10 this year. I've been trying to win events rather than just make the cut and it's paid off."

Boyd competed at the US Open at Pebble Beach for the first time in 2010, having previously played in the 2008 Open Championship at Birkdale.
