Oosthuizen is still in the hunt for back-to-back titles

Louis Oosthuizen's hopes of following victory at the Open with a European Tour title remain alive after a second-round 70 at the Scandinavian Masters.

The 27-year-old South African lies two shots behind clubhouse leader KJ Choi.

Oosthuizen was two clear after birdies on the 11th and 12th, but a double-bogey at the 17th, coupled with Choi's superb back nine, saw him slip back.

Korean Choi shot a five-under-par 67, which included an eagle at the 15th and birdes at the 13th, 16th and 17th.

"I am very happy. In the cross-wind control is very hard, but I hit the ball so good," said 40-year-old Choi, who has abandoned the unusual side-saddle putting stroke he used at St Andrews.

"These greens are very slopey and the side-saddle needs more practice."

The physio found out I had ruptured a muscle between my neck and my shoulder blade

Oosthuizen is hoping to create history and become the first man to win a European Tour title a week after winning the Open.

"It was very cold when we started and quite a bit windy," he stated.

"I could see a good round out there still, but I didn't putt so well and I'll try to sort that this afternoon."

American Dustin Johnson shared the first-round lead with Oosthuizen, but Friday's round of 73 left him on four under, five shots off the lead.

Another Johnson, Sweden's Richard, was sandwiched between Choi and Oosthuizen on eight under following his second round 66.

Oosthuizen was joined on seven under by Argentine Rafael Echenique with Italy's Robert-Jan Derksen and Richard Green of Sweden a shot further behind.

Sweden's Jesper Parnevik had to pull out of the European Tour event after 11 holes of the second round when he suffered a neck injury.

Parnevik, 45, was playing his first tournament in six months following an operation on a damaged vertebrae.

"I felt acute pain in my neck when I tried to hack my ball out," said Parnevik. "I couldn't go on and when I went to the physio found out I had ruptured a muscle between my neck and my shoulder blade."
