Northern Ireland pair Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke beat Republic of Ireland duo Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry in a rain-sodden Lough Erne challenge.

McIlroy and Clarke clinched a hard-fought minus six to minus five victory in the strokeplay better ball contest.

Three-time major winner Harrington had lost by two shots to McIlroy in a singles match last year in the inaugural Lough Erne challenge.

Clarke and Lowry were invited to enter the fray this time round.
