James won a hard battle with Germany's Michele Holzwarth |
Sian James won the English Open Mid-Amateur Championship at her home club, Bristol & Clifton, defeating Germany's Michele Holzwarth 2&1 in the final. "It was tough," said the 21-year-old Gloucestershire county player. "When Michele holed a long putt to halve the third I knew it wasn't going to be easy and she fought really hard." It was a family affair for James, whose father Ian caddied while mum Margaret and brothers Steven and Mark were among the spectators.
