McIlroy recorded another top-ten finish in Dubai

Defending champion Rory McIlroy ended in a tie for sixth position on eight under par at the Dubai Desert Classic.

The Holywood player fired a final round of one-over-par 73, which included three birdies and four bogeys, to lie three shots behind the leaders.

Miguel Angel Jimenez defeated Lee Westwood in a play-off.

Graeme McDowell and Gareth Maybin tied for 20th on three under while Darren Clarke finished on two under and Damien McGrane on one over.

McDowell carded a closing 75, Maybin registered a 72 and Clarke recorded a 73.
