Michelle Wie is hoping that a good performance at this week's Women's British Open can secure a place in the United States Solheim Cup team.
Wie, 19, who has had a runner-up finish and two third places in her first full season as an LPGA Tour member, knows victory would guarantee her a spot.
"I would love to play - it would be the greatest honour," said the American.
"It's one of the biggest goals I've had and it's been weighing on my mind basically the whole year."
Wie is an iconic figure in the sport ever since coming to the wider public's attention at the age of 13 when she became the youngest player to make an LPGA cut, at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
She then appeared on the men's US tour at 14 and missed the halfway cut by only one shot.
Injuries and loss of form has scuppered her progress until this season. The Hawaiian-born golfer is hoping her good form will have impressed US captain Beth Daniel enough to be included as at least one of her two wildcard picks.
"I would like to say I deserve a pick, but a win will solve everything," added the American, with both the United States and Europe teams to be named after this week's major.
This year's event takes place at Royal Lytham, which hosted the British Open back in 2006.
Wie was 26th that week after being handed a two-stroke penalty for hitting a piece of moss on her backswing in a bunker.
The 19-year-old added: "I'm going to try my best to stay out of them - they are definitely hazards."
Qualification for Europe's Solheim Cup team is a little bit more complicated.
Five come off a European points list - France's Gwladys Nocera leads the rankings while England's 45-year-old Laura Davies is fourth.
Four more qualify from the world rankings, with Norway's Suzann Pettersen topping the list, while Scot Catriona Matthew is currently in the last qualifying position.
There will be a two-hour gap between the end of the tournament on Sunday and the announcement of Europe captain Alison Nicholas' three wild cards.
