McIlroy to partner Goosen at Open

Rory McIlroy has a lunchtime start in Scotland on Thursday

Rory McIlroy will begin his Open Championship bid at Turnberry alongside former US Open champion Retief Goosen and young American Anthony Kim.

The Holywood player starts at 1331 BST on Thursday and 0820 on Friday.

Portrush's Graeme McDowell is grouped with Vijay Singh and Bubba Watson while Darren Clarke has Luke Donald and Azuma Yano for company.

Defending champion Padraig Harrington tees off with Jim Furyk and Geoff Ogilvy at 1420 on Thursday.

Paul McGinley will play with big-hitter John Daly and Carl Petterson.

Damien McGrane goes out with Tim Stewart and Matt Kuchar while David Higgins, who is paired with Jeremy Kavanagh and Daniel Gaunt, completes the Irish contingent.

World number one Tiger Woods will begin his challenge alongside England's Lee Westwood and highly rated Japan star Ryo Ishikawa.
