Rory McIlroy lines up a putt during the final round at Wentworth |
Rory McIlroy failed in his bid for the PGA Championship title after a one-under-par 71 in Sunday's final round. The 20-year-old from Holywood was in contention after birdies at the 4th and sixth holes but his hopes were dashed with bogeys at 10, 13 and 16. McIlroy recovered to birdie the final two holes to finish fifth on 10 under and seven behind winner Paul Casey. Portrush's Graeme McDowell ended on five under after a 69 while Darren Clarke was two over after firing a 71.
