Molinari would have been only two shots off the pace
Italian Francesco Molinari has been disqualified from the Irish Open.
Molinari, who led overnight thanks to a course record 63, signed for the wrong score on two holes of his second round.
He double-bogeyed the 13th but after his round of 73 he did not see that the six had been put down for his score at the 12th instead.
His disqualification follows that of Belfast's Michael Hoey who was discovered to have had too many clubs in his bag.
Hoey, winner of the Portuguese Open in April, was on two under after 10 holes of his second round, when it was found that he had 15 clubs, one too many.
Hoey said of his own error: "I realised I had my rescue club in as well as my two iron and I always leave one of them out.
"It is an elementary mistake and a costly one as I was playing well today and looking forward to finishing."
